The Brain Tumour All Party Group, which was set up on 11th July 2005, consists currently of 43 MPs representing different political parties and the House of Lords.
The Chair is John Bercow (Con) MP for Buckingham, with Vice Chairs: Evan Harris (LD) MP for Oxford & Abingdon and Betty Williams (Lab) MP for Conwy and Secretary: Jeremy Wright (Con) MP for Rugby & Kenilworth. The secretariat is provided by Ali’s Dream.
The aims of the Brain Tumour All Party Group are:
“To raise awareness of the issues facing the brain tumour community and to increase funding to improve education, information, specialisation, support and research”
The group meet three times a year to discuss relevant issues, and raise issues in the House of Commons through: Parliamentary Questions, Adjournment Debates and Early Day Motions.
In order to up-weight the activity and increase the profile a Mass Lobby under the guidance of John Bercow’s department is being planned for March 21st 2007 – to coincide with brain tumour awareness month.
If you feel you could join in and request a meeting with your MP at the House of Commons on this day then please let the organiser Sue Farrington Smith know by completing this form.
